Is Icedrive worth buying?
Based on the vendor's lifetime page, Icedrive lifetime plans include zero-knowledge encryption and sync on two devices, but lifetime is not defined and heavy sync use is steered to subscriptions. Prices on the vendor page are higher than the stored tier prices. Check current pricing on the vendor page.

- You want private storage for personal files.
- You want zero-knowledge encryption without a monthly bill.
- You like a virtual drive that does not use local disk space.
Skip it if

What is Icedrive?
Icedrive is a cloud storage service that mounts your storage as a virtual drive on your computer. Lifetime plans include zero-knowledge client-side encryption, which the free plan does not, plus desktop sync, 14-day file versioning, mobile camera upload and sharing controls such as password protection and link expiry. The vendor's lifetime page lists 500 GB and 2 TB plans.
What Icedrive says it does
- Zero-knowledge client-side encryption on lifetime plans
- Desktop sync on 2 devices with 3 sync pairs each, and 14-day versioning
- Public link controls: expiry, download cap, preview-only, password
- ISO 27001-certified Tier III+ data centers and GDPR compliance (Icedrive's figure)
Why Icedrive
It replaces a monthly storage bill for casual personal use. The vendor steers heavy automation, NAS-style syncing and large archives toward subscriptions, and its page does not define what lifetime means.
